I have been in a very discovery mood recently /
I find that my mind explodes like a new year
firecracker over the absolute smallness of
things / It is as though one thing is said
but a million possibilities are now open to me /
Yesterday in the midst of writing a paper
I heard someone say that if you shave
a husky their inner layer never grows back /
And I think all the huskies in Thailand
that I planned to visit whenever I find myself
in a plane must surely mourning their manes
or are they so fed on love they don’t care
that what was once part of them was
now gone forever / It continues to amaze
me that the human race is so full
of potential but it is so underused /
You can print literally anything
you want on a T-shirt and wear
it forever / Why are there so little artists
when you don’t need much to make an
impact / Inadvertently I listened in to
a conversation about plant cuttings
and memories of science classes
sprouted out of the recesses /
Cut something off to grow
whole again somewhere else /
That must be a metaphor for everything /
I’m in a very very discovery mood /
Every day feels like I’m Dora the Explorer /
It is like I found a shut door behind a
cabinet and finally pried it open
only to reveal another cabinet /
It’s like someone’s come to
fish the truth out of me
with their god-blessed fish-hook /
It’s like – 1+1 = 2 is something I learnt just today /
It’s like up until today I don’t know
how I have been living without
appreciating these simple truths
and being thankful always /
